How You Can Help:

Individuals, groups, and businesses can get involved by choosing a family (or families), shopping for gifts, and wrapping items to be delivered.

Volunteers are also needed to help organize and deliver the gifts. Watch for more information coming soon for 2025.

Eligibility for Holiday Assistance

UCAN’s Holiday Assistance program is available to Urbandale residents only. To be eligible for holiday assistance your application must be approved prior to November. 1, 2025. Please contact our office with questions.

Families will be required to compete an application once every calendar year and provide documentation of residence, income and family members once a year.  Once you complete this application, you are eligible for all UCAN programs for the year. All information requested below must be provided in order to be eligible for assistance:

  • Photo IDs for all adults in the household and identification for all children (birth certificate, insurance card, or school ID; driver’s license from any country, passport, etc.) ONLY INCLUDE CHILDREN FOR WHICH YOU ARE THE LEGAL GUARDIAN. Duplications can result in service interruptions or denials.

  • Proof of Urbandale residence. Must provide current address verification (e.g., current utility bill)

  • Income limits apply.  Total household income must be 175% or less of the federal poverty guidelines to qualify. Must provide income verification for all household members (past 90 days pay stubs, Iowa Workforce Development statement, Disability Statement PLUS 2022 tax return front page with SS number blocked out). Your income must be verified every year. Below is a guide – UCAN works with each individual family on a case by case basis. Please contact us with questions.

  • UCAN RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE.
