About Urbandale Community Action Network (UCAN)
Who We Are
The Urbandale Community Action Network (UCAN) is a 501(c)3 non-profit group providing leadership and ongoing support for comprehensive community based action to improve the quality of life in Urbandale.
UCAN offers a number of programs that assist Urbandale residents that are in need. In offering these programs, UCAN hopes to replace despair with opportunity and hope by focusing on individuals, families, communities to facilitate problem solving.
UCAN has built strong partnerships with the City, County, School Districts, area Churches, the Business community and Civic Organizations. A nine-member Board of Directors, a full-time Executive Director and a part-time Administrative Assistant oversee the activities, committees and volunteers of UCAN.
In 2024, the Board implemented a multi-year strategic plan. The process involved critically evaluating the organization’s mission and vision, providing a focused lens to assess who we serve, and evaluating how we serve them. From the strategic plan, board members have developed specific measurable and achievable projects for the next three years.
