A History of Organizing Around Community Needs
The Urbandale Community Action Network is the second generation of the Urbandale Community Action Council. The Council formed in the late 90’s after a series of community forums that provided input and direction as to our community’s needs at that time. From those discussions, the Urbandale Caring Corps, Strengthening Neighborhoods, Character Counts and Leadership Urbandale were born.
In 2009, a group of citizens came together to breathe new life into the Action Council and to review our current community needs. Additional community forums were held and, in 2010, the Action Council became the Urbandale Community Action Network and formed five new working committees addressing the areas of greatest need.
